Program Overview

Explore all the unique issues confronted by government/public sector payroll professionals. Learn about the special Fair Labor Standard Act exceptions involved in exempt and non-exempt employees, comp time, police/fire exceptions, and much more. We will explore the complex Section 218 taxation issue regarding Social Security and Medicare tax, and the pension options for state, local, and school districts.

Also includes an in-depth discussion of government sector accounting and auditing, as well as controls and auditing techniques specific for compliance with federal, state and state retirement regulations. We will look closely at the impact of collective bargaining agreements and how to meet their needs in conjunction with the federal, state and local regulations.
