Webinar on Demand-What Do the New Overtime Rules Mean for Payroll?

The U.S. Department of Labor has increased the minimum salary for employees meeting the “white collar” overtime exemption to $913 per week ($47,476 annually), effective December 1, 2016. This change will affect millions of currently exempt employees, and payroll will be on the front lines. During this webinar, we will discuss your role as your organization tries to identify exempt employees who do not meet the new salary minimum and what your employer’s options are going forward to stay in compliance. During the webinar we will discuss:

  • How the increase in the standard salary level for exempt employees will impact your organization and your payroll function
  • What you need to do leading up to December 1 to ensure compliance
  • How you can identify your highly compensated employees who only have to meet a simplified duties test if their annual compensation totals $134,004
  • The new mechanism for updating the salary levels every three years so they remain useful in determining exempt status
  • How nondiscretionary bonuses and incentive payments (e.g., commissions) can be used to satisfy up to 10% of the standard salary level
  • The effect the new overtime rules will have on state overtime requirements
